About our Scholars in Residence

Elliot Kaplowitz is a third year student at Yeshivat Chovevei Torah. He received a combined BA/MA in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. Prior to beginning his studies at YCT, Elliot worked as the Iyyun Fellow at Hillel’s International Center in Washington, DC. Elliot is currently working as a rabbinic intern at Congregation Sha’arei Tefilah in Newton, MA, and teaches classes on Judaism at the Manhattan JCC. Elliot is an avid Boston Red Sox fan (thank you, Minnesota for David Ortiz!) and brews his own beer.

Toby Goldfisher Kaplowitz is program coordinator at the Association of Modern Orthodox Day Schools and High Schools, an agency of the Center for the Jewish Future, Yeshiva University. Toby received her BA in psychology and music from Stern College for Women and is a graduate of the Stern College Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies. Toby spent three summers abroad in Australia and New Zealand leading an informal Jewish education program called Counterpoint. She currently is finishing a masters program at the Bank Street College of Education and loves to watch the Food Network and cook any chance she gets! Elliot and Toby were married this past September and live in Riverdale, NY.
